Is Reverse Osmosis able to treat Hard water ( Borehole water)

Borehole water comes from an underground source .i.e an Aquifer. This water may be safe to drink if it is checked to meet the drinking standards. However, some boreholes may contain bacteria and chemical contaminants making the water hard and salty.
